The spray tower is a device used to pre-treat waste gas, which can indirectly improve the efficiency of waste gas treatment. Because the waste gas is washed with water inside the spray tower, it can reduce the dust and water-soluble chemicals in the waste gas, which can reduce the burden of vocs waste gas treatment equipment, to improve the efficiency of exhaust gas purification.

Generally, in the process of waste gas treatment, there are steps such as collecting gas - pre-washing waste gas - transporting waste gas - purifying waste gas - exhaust gas, and the spray tower can be said to play the role of pre-washing and inspection in the VOCs waste gas treatment process. Such as biological deodorization, exhaust gas deodorization and other projects have an important role. In the treatment of paint, water-soluble waste gas, dust particles, etc., due to different chemical compositions, it has an impact on the treatment efficiency and energy consumption of vocs waste gas treatment equipment. The spray tower is used as a pretreatment device to eliminate these unstable factors and improve the smooth operation and purification efficiency of the vocs waste gas treatment equipment. In some special cases, when the temperature of the exhaust gas collection inlet is high, the inorganic acid gas generated needs to be cooled to enter the subsequent process during the treatment of the catalytic combustion equipment, and the spray tower can be used as a cooling facility and can be widely used in different exhaust gas treatment. in the project.

When dealing with odors and odors, those irritating gases will produce toxic components, which have a great impact on human health; but some are soluble in water, such as ammonia, sulfide and other gases, these odors After the washing of the spray tower, the treatment efficiency of microorganisms in the biological deodorization equipment will be increased, and the load will be reduced; at the same time, the humid internal environment of the spray tower will discharge the odor into the biological purification equipment, which can improve the living environment of microorganisms. Greatly improve the efficiency of microbial deodorization. Therefore, the spray tower is also suitable for biological deodorization, and is widely used in waste gas treatment projects such as biological deodorization, biological trickling filtration, biological filter and UV photolysis.

Spray tower structure

A spray tower, also known as a wet scrubber or a spray scrubber, is an air pollution control device used to remove pollutants from industrial exhaust gases. It works by using a liquid solution to capture and remove contaminants from the gas stream.

The basic structure of a spray tower consists of the following components:

  • Inlet: The polluted gas stream is introduced into the spray tower through an inlet. This gas stream typically contains pollutants such as particulate matter, gases like sulfur dioxide (SO2), nitrogen oxides (NOx), volatile organic compounds (VOCs), and others.

  • Spray Nozzles: Inside the spray tower, there are spray nozzles strategically placed at different levels. These nozzles spray a liquid solution, often water or a chemical reagent, into the gas stream. The liquid droplets generated by the nozzles come into contact with the pollutants in the gas stream.

  • Packing Material: Some spray towers use a packing material (such as a network of baffles or random packing) to increase the contact between the liquid droplets and the gas stream. This enhances the efficiency of pollutant removal. The packing material also provides a larger surface area for the gas-liquid interaction.

  • Outlet: After the gas stream passes through the spray tower and interacts with the liquid droplets, the treated gas stream exits through an outlet. The removal efficiency of pollutants depends on factors like the residence time of gas in the tower, the liquid-to-gas ratio, the chemical properties of the pollutants, and the design of the tower.

  • Liquid Recirculation System: To maintain the efficiency of the spray tower, a liquid recirculation system is often used. This system collects the liquid that has captured pollutants and sends it back to the spray nozzles for reuse. It also allows for the addition of chemicals to enhance pollutant removal if needed.

  • Demister or Mist Eliminator: Sometimes, a demister or mist eliminator is installed at the top of the spray tower to capture any liquid droplets that might carry over with the treated gas stream. This prevents pollution of the surrounding environment.

  • Monitoring and Control System: A modern spray tower often includes a monitoring and control system to adjust parameters like the flow rate of the liquid solution, the gas flow rate, and other operational aspects. This helps optimize the efficiency of pollutant removal while minimizing water usage and energy consumption.

Spray towers are widely used in industries where gas emissions need to be treated to comply with environmental regulations. They are effective for removing both particulate matter and some gaseous pollutants, although their efficiency can vary depending on the specific pollutants and operating conditions.
