Galvanized air duct is a type of pipe used in ventilation systems that has a galvanized surface. Galvanizing is the process of coating the surface of steel or iron alloy with a layer of zinc to prevent corrosion of the metal. This treatment makes the air duct more corrosion-resistant and durable, so it is often used in ventilation systems in buildings, industrial facilities and other places.

Duct systems are used to transport air, exhaust exhaust, or circulate air. During the manufacturing process of galvanized air ducts, the zinc layer is usually attached to the steel surface through hot-dip galvanizing or electro-galvanizing. Such coatings can effectively protect steel from damage in wet or corrosive environments.

The production process of galvanized air duct usually includes the following main steps:

  • Raw material preparation: The manufacture of air ducts usually uses steel plates or other metal materials as the base material. These raw materials need to be pre-processed, such as cutting into the desired shape and size.

  • Shaping: The raw materials are shaped by equipment such as forming machinery or roller machines to form the initial shape of the air duct. This can include steps such as bending, crimping and welding so that the duct has the desired shape and size.

  • Cleaning: The metal surface during the manufacturing process may have some grease, dirt, etc., so it needs to be cleaned before galvanizing. Cleaning can use chemical cleaning agents or mechanical cleaning.

  • Hot-dip galvanizing: Clean air ducts are immersed in molten zinc, and a layer of zinc coating is formed on the surface of the air ducts through hot-dip galvanizing. This provides superior corrosion protection. Hot dip galvanizing is a common galvanizing method in which the air duct is completely submerged in liquid zinc.

  • Cooling and solidification: The galvanized air duct needs to be cooled and solidified to ensure that the zinc coating is firmly adhered to the metal surface.

  • Cutting and finishing: Galvanized duct may need to be cut and finished according to specific requirements to ensure that the final product meets standards.

  • Inspection and Packaging: After completing all production steps, the products are inspected for quality. Qualified air duct will be packaged for shipping and delivery to the customer.

This is just a general manufacturing process and actual production may vary based on different manufacturers and product requirements.

PP (polypropylene) air duct and galvanized air duct each have their own advantages, and the choice depends on the specific application needs and environmental conditions. Here are some of their comparative advantages:

Advantages of PP air duct:

  • Corrosion resistance: PP air duct is made of polypropylene, so it has good resistance to some chemicals and highly corrosive environments.

  • Lightweight: Polypropylene is a lightweight material, making PP air duct relatively lightweight, which facilitates installation and handling.

  • Insulation performance: PP has good insulation properties. For some special application scenarios, such as environments with high electrical insulation requirements, PP air ducts may be more suitable.

  • Cost: Relative to galvanized ducts, PP ducts may be cheaper to manufacture, which may be an advantage under some economic considerations.

Advantages of galvanized air duct:

  • Mechanical strength: Galvanized air ducts are made of steel or other metal materials. They have high mechanical strength and stability and are suitable for some environments that require greater strength.

  • High temperature resistance: Galvanized air ducts have good resistance to high temperature environments and are suitable for some scenarios that require the handling of high temperature gases.

  • Wear resistance: Galvanized coating can provide certain wear resistance, making the air duct more durable during use.

  • Wide application: Galvanized air ducts are often used in general ventilation systems, such as buildings, industrial facilities, etc., and have a wide range of applications.

When choosing, you need to consider factors such as the use environment, budget, mechanical requirements, etc. to determine which type of duct is more suitable for specific needs.
