A PP Plastic Plating Tank (Polypropylene Plating Tank) is a specialized chemical-resistant container designed for electroplating or chemical treatment processes. It’s widely used in industries like electronics, automotive, jewelry, surface finishing, and wastewater treatment due to its superior chemical resistance, heat tolerance, and structural stability.

1. Why Use PP for Plating Tanks?

Property Benefit
Chemical resistance Withstands acids, alkalis, and most solvents used in plating (e.g., H₂SO₄, HCl, NaOH).
Heat resistance Operates at temperatures up to ~100–110°C.
Non-conductive Excellent for electroplating—safe and stable.
Durable and lightweight Easier to handle than metal tanks, resistant to corrosion and impact.
Cost-effective Long-lasting and affordable compared to stainless steel or lined tanks.

2. Typical Applications

  • Electroplating (nickel, copper, chrome, zinc, gold, etc.)

  • Anodizing

  • Chemical etching

  • Cleaning/rinsing tanks

  • Wastewater treatment

  • Pickling tanks

3. Standard Tank Design Features

  • Material: PP homopolymer or copolymer sheets, usually 8mm–25mm thick

  • Shape: Rectangular or cylindrical (rectangular more common in plating lines)

  • Reinforcement: External steel frame (painted or PP-coated) for structural support (especially for larger tanks)

  • Welding: Hot gas welding or extrusion welding for leak-proof joints

  • Drainage & fittings:

    • Inlet/outlet nozzles (usually PP or PVC)

    • Overflow ports

    • Filter or circulation piping

  • Accessories:

    • Covers/lids

    • Cathode rod holders

    • Agitator mounts

    • Heaters or chillers (often PTFE-coated)

4. Typical Construction Process

  1. Design phase: Determine size, chemical use, and required reinforcements

  2. Cut PP sheets to size (CNC or manual)

  3. Weld components using hot air or extrusion welders

  4. Install fittings, valves, drains as needed

  5. Leak testing with water or air pressure

  6. Add reinforcements, frames, or insulation (optional)

5. Common Sizes (Customizable)

Size (L × W × H mm) Volume Use Case
1000 × 500 × 500 250L Small-batch plating
2000 × 1000 × 1000 2,000L Medium to large-scale production
3000 × 1500 × 1200 5,400L High-capacity processing
